Communication

* NEW Neurodiversity Referral Processes*

A rising number of parents are asking us to help with referrals for Neurodiversity diagnosis such as ADHD and Autism.

We will be holding an information morning regarding this on the 29th April at 9am in the staff room.

Below are copies of the referral paperwork for your own use. School will complete the Education Setting part of the referral after we have received the Parental paperwork from home.

Please note: The referral you use is determined on whether your GP surgery is classed as Nottinghamshire or Nottingham CITY, so if you are unsure please speak to your GP before completing the paperwork as if submitted to the wrong place, it will be automatically rejected.

Identifying your child's strengths and difficulties.

In School we use a number of different baselines when we have initial concerns regarding a child. These are also things you could use at home to help you pinpoint specific difficulties for your child. This helps you when speaking to professionals about any concerns you may have. The main two that we use initially are:

SDQ - Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire - this is widely used and is a great initial tool for spotting where a child's main need lies whether it be: Emotional regulation, Conduct, Hyperactivity, Peer relationships or Prosocial behaviour.

Sensory Questionnaire - If your child shows some sensitivity to sounds, textures or seeking behaviours, the sensory questionnaire is a great place to start to pinpoint specific sensory needs your child is showing. Often this helps us to identify the proprioceptive input a child is seeking to help regulate their emotions.

You can find both of these below and print off for your own use.

We are wanting to increase communication between school and parents of our SEN children. We will now be sending out SEN Newsletters each term with some useful information.

From the Parent Questionnaire, we found parents wanted to be given the opportunity to voice any concerns ahead of their 'structured conversation' or 'multi-agency' meetings which take place each term. We have now created the 'parent voice survey' which you can find below (if you would like to complete it digitally) - which will be sent out to you a week or so before any planned meetings so that you can have the lead in where the meeting goes.
