Head Lice Guidance

Head lice and nits

Head lice and nits are very common in young children and their families. They do not have anything to do with dirty hair and are picked up by head-to-head contact.

Your child does not need to stay off school if you suspect or discover they have head lice but we do ask that you treat your child with a solution recommended by a pharmacist.  You may be able to get free treatment through the NHS Minor Ailments Scheme (see below).

Let us know if your child has head lice or nits, so that we can ask other parents to check their children.
