On Wednesday 3rd June the year 6 boys cricket team travelled to Gedling Colliery Cricket Club to play in the annual district competition. As always the event was extremely well attended with 13 schools competing.
After being selected to play in a league of 5 the boys took to the pitch to play Coppice Farm first and Salterford House second. Both games were won by the boys before they had the opportunity to rest. The 3rd game proved to be the hardest of the league and unfortunately the team lost to Woodborough Woods, the eventual competition winners. The defeat didn't dampened the confidence of the team and they secured a narrow victory in the final league game against Burton Joyce. This meant that the team finished in second place and progressed into the semi finals. The team played against St Wilfrids here but unfortunately lost although it was close game. This meant the team were left to play in the 3rd & 4th play off against Robert Mellors. The boys secured victory in this game and finished the day in 3rd place.
A huge well done to the team and good luck now for the county finals on Thursday 9th July.
