Tuesday 6th October
A huge well done to the school tag rugby team. They competed in the annual Gedling competition on Tuesday 6th October along with 13 other teams.
The standard of play was of a very good level and it was clear to see that lots of schools had prepared well for the tournament. Our school team got off to a slow start but still managed to progress through their group in second place, on points difference, after wining 2 games and drawing 1. The team came up against Coppice Farm in the knock out stages and after a wonderful game of rugby we progressed after scoring a golden try. In the 3rd/4th playoff the team unfortunately lost by 1 point but finished the day in 4th place and left the event with their heads held very high.
The team will now compete in a tag rugby competition at Forest Fields on Friday 16th October.
Friday 16th October
The second of 2 tournaments took place at Forest Fields Recreation ground, an event sponsored by Coca Cola and Park Lives.
The team were placed into a league of 6, which allowed them to play 5 games. The performed really well and improved as the afternoon progressed. The team won 2, drew 1 and lost 2 of their leagues which allowed them to finish 4th and progress into the knock stages.
In the quarter finals they played Edwalton who had topped their league, unfortunately they were too strong for us and managed to beat us 4-2. However, the game was really close and team AMPS played their best game of the day and left the event feeling very proud of themselves.
All the players received a medal for their participation.
