Thursday 30th April - Pop Lacrosse Regional Finals
After a successfully winning the Gedling pop lacrosse competition in March it was the teams turn to compete in the regional finals at Nottingham Trent University. With a fantastic venue and the best teams in the region competing the team knew they were in for a hard afternoon. The team played 3 league games, winning their first 2 but losing their final game, this secured them second spot in their league and a place in the semi finals. Unfortunately we lost the semi final 6-3 but went away from the event feeling very proud and very pleased with our performance.
Friday 27th March - Gedling Pop Lacrosse Competition (Carlton Academy)
The team travelled to The Carlton Academy with high hopes and with great excitement. After a long warm up all the teams were finally brought together for a run through of the rules. With this explained the tournament got under way.
The team played 4 games against some very good opposition but our teams ability shone through as they claimed 4 victories out of 4. This fantastic effort meant that they won the competition and progressed through to the regional finals, which take place on Thursday 30th April at Nottingham Trent University.
Friday 5th December - Gedling Pop Lacrosse Competition (Carlton Academy)
Our pop lacrosse team braved the cold weather conditions and took part in the 8 team Gedling competition. The team were looking forward to the afternoon but were all feeling slightly nervous as it was their first competitive competition. Upon arrival the 8 teams were split into 2 leagues of 4.
The team began slowly, falling behind to Salterford House (the eventual winners) in the opening game. However team AMPS showed excellent resilience and managed to secure a draw (we were the only team to take points of the afternoon winners). The name game saw the team win against Killisick but unfortunately they lost the third game against a strong Willow Farm Team.
As a team we qualified in second place and went into a third and fourth play off against St John Baptist school. Team AMPS upped their game and produced an outstanding display, beating the opposition comfortably and securing a 6-1 victory to claim 3rd place at the event.
The players were extremely pleased with their performance and they all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon - once again it was a pleasure watching them play and grow in confidence.
The team is now looking forward to the next competition in 2015.
