Quarter Final Play Off - Arnold Mill 3 Arnold View 2
After already meeting twice in the league this season and with both teams having secured a victory we were all expecting a very close and hard fought game. The game didn't disappoint, with Leo scoring after 13 seconds to give Arnold Mill an early lead. The opposition then equalised and continued to press, using the advantage of the wind, playing downhill and the huge kicks from their keeper. Fortunately the kicks didn't work and we made it through to half time level. The second half was very closely fought and very even, with some excellent play from both teams. Once again it was Leo who found the net for AMPS before Arnold View yet again equalised with a fortunate goal. With time running out and both teams expecting extra time, Leo was fouled again as he raced through. It was Leo who picked himself up, took the ball and smashed home the winner with the last kick of the game.
A fantastic performance and a well deserved win. The team will now play in the semi finals.
Gedling League Fixture Vs Sir John Sherbrooke (AWAY)
The boys were keen to put the disappointment of laast weeks first league defeat behind them so the next league game couldn't come quick enough. Once the team had settled down after a frantic start their class began to show and the goals then followed. The boys dominated play throughout the game and created numerous chances, managing to convert 7 chances to win the game 7-0.
The boys SHOULD now progress onto the play offs and we are also hoping they qualify as league champions - this will be decided next Thursday once all the results are in.
It has been a fantastic season, with the boys playing some excellent football
Gedling league fixture Vs Arnold View (AWAY)
The boys went into this game knowing it would be their toughest test of the season and it certainly proved they way as the home side took an early 2-0 lead with some excellent counter attacking play. Once the players of Arnold Mill had settled they began to dominant the game but were limited to a few chances and were unlucky not to score when Tom York struck the post. The home team resorted to their long ball game which meant we had to start from the back on many occasions and couldn't break through their defence, the game finished 2-0 so it is all to play now as both teams have only lost 1 game. This defeat saw the boys team lose for the first time in 2 years, we are positive that they will bounce back stronger from this though and will show their class in the next game.
Gedling League fixture Vs Carlton Central (AWAY)
The boys travelled to Carlton Central this week to play the return fixture. On arrival we knew it was going to be a very tough game as the pitch would influence the game a lot. The boys got off to a slow start and were actual a goal down within 10minutes, which is the first time they have fallen behind this season. Thee team struggled to get to grips with the pitch but eventually made a break through with Leo turning in the ball, shortly after Isaac added a second and the team filled with confidence. Going into the second half the team continued to press and scored a further two goals to finish the game as 4-1 winners.
It was a tough game but the team dug deep and got the result we wanted, well done boys!
Gedling League fixture Vs Carlton Central
The boys played their 2nd game in 4 days as we welcomed Carlton Central to our school for the first time. The boys started off with some excellent football and put the opposition under pressure from the start. It wasn't until the 10th minute though that they made their break through, with Leo converting a cross with a close range header. The team continued with some lovely passing and movement which lead to their second home as Isaac drove home a long range effort. At half time, 3 subs were introduced to the game but it didn't stop the flow of the game and the team pressed home their possession advantage with another 3 goals.
The game finished 5-1 which continued the boys unbeaten run in the league but the most impressive was thing taken from the game was the way the team played, it was by far the best team performance this season.

Gedling league fixture Vs Killisick
The boys focus returned to the league this week as they played their first league game since November. Their opponents were Killisick, who are the only team to have scored against us in open play all season. The game got off to a fairly even start but the confidence and ability of our players begin to shine through and they took a 2-0 lead in to half time with Isaac Edwards and Tom York scoring the goals. The second half saw the introduction of Leo Roberts-Barton who found his form immediately scoring a goal within 5 minutes of the restart. Leo continued with the goals, scoring 4 in total and also providing an assist for Tom York to score his second. The game finished 7-0 and gave the team another boost of confidence ahead of their final 4 games.
County finals 5-a-side competition
On Wednesday 21st January the boys team were given the great opportunity to compete at Trent Uni, Clifton Site as the representatives of Gedling. The 5-a-side tournament was held indoors and involved 5 other district representatives. With the boys getting off to a very slow start and struggling to come to terms with the speed and difference of playing indoors, they lost their first 3 games. However, after a 10 minute rest and a chance to get together the team showed great character and managed to win their remaining 2 games, playing excellent football along the way.
Well done boys, it was a tough night but we learnt a lot from it as a team, showing excellent resilience and determination to come away from it ready to carry on our brilliant league campaign.
Year 5/6 Majestic Trophy
The boys had a different challenge this week as they played a cup game against Barnby Road (Newark) at home. The pitch had managed to survive the rain and the games that were played on it last weekend although it was very muddy and slippery in places.
The opposition began very well and clearly were going to be a difficult team to beat. Arnold Mill managed to keep out their attack during the first half and during the second created some chances themselves but unfortunately they could not convert them. The game finished 0-0 after extra time so penalties were needed to decide the winners. The final score was 3-1 to Barnby Road and we wish them luck for the rest of the competition.

Boys Gedling League C
The boys started off the new season with a fixture against Arnold View on Wednesday 8th October. The weather was atrocious for the game with constant heavy downpours but the players from both sides did not let it bother them and the game included some excellent football. AMPS proved to be the stronger of the two teams and finished the game as 2-0 winners, with Leo Roberts-Barton scoring both goals either side of half time. It was a fantastic start for the boys and they go into the next game with confidence.
On Thursday 23rd October the boys football team travelled to Killisick for their second league game of the season. The team began the game fantastically and were 1-0 up after less than two minutes after Isaac Edwards struck a fierce shot in from the edge of the box. Isaac turned provided for the second goal when he delivered a deep cross from a corner to find Oliver Sloan at the back post to score with a header. The team pushed on in the second half and managed to score a further 3 goals (2 Leo Roberts-Barton, 1 Isaac Edwards) to finish the game as 5-1 winners. Well done again boys.

Stanhope Football Tournament
On Wednesday 1st October the year 5&6 boys football team played in a tournament at Stanhope Primary, Gedling. The team went into the tournament having had very little practice but with huge confidence in their own ability. The team played 3 teams in a league format, winning 2 games and drawing the third. This meant they progressed as league winners into the semi finals. The team create lots of chances during the semi final but unfortunately they were unable to capitalise on any and the game finished with a penalty shootout. The teams opponents score all of their penalties which sent them onto the final. Although the team was very disappointed there were lots of plus points to take from the tournament and it looks like being another good season from the boys.
