Week 3 - 4th May

Last week we learned about how a farmer looks after his animals and where milk comes from. This week we want you to think about where some of our other food comes from.

Lots of our food comes from farms and farmers can grow lots of different types of food. What food do you think farmers can grow in their fields?

Farmers can grow food such as vegetables, fruit and wheat. Wheat can be crushed and ground up to make flour. Can you think of something that you eat that might be made with flour?

Flour is used to make lots of different foods such as bread, cakes, biscuits, pasta and cereal.

Bread is something that you might eat regularly. You might have toast for your breakfast or a sandwich for your dinner. In the video below, you can watch how wheat is used to make bread. Whilst watching the video, see if you can find the answers to these questions:

  • What was growing in the field?
  • What are the wheat seeds called?
  • What was the flour mixed with to make the bread dough?
  • What is your favourite type of bread to eat?
