Chinese New Year

We have been learning all about Chinese New Year as part of our topic 'Our Wonderful World'. We read the story of the Great Race which told us all about how the years were named after the different animals. This year is the year of the rat.

We learned that some of us were born in the year of the Horse and others were born in the Year of the Goat.

We made Chinese lanterns to celebrate.

We also tried some Chinese stir-fry and a prawn cracker. It was very yummy!

We learned that during Chinese New Year, noodles are eaten as a symbol of longevity. We also had a satsuma as round food is a symbol for family and togetherness.
